Please note that on Wednesday, 9 September there will be a public transport strike for 24 hours! Not all details are yet officially announced but it must be expected that strike will encompass NS (Dutch National Railways), all city transportation, all regional buslines, DB Cargo, and Prorail (the manager of the rail infrastructure and operational rail traffic control). This means that also international rail traffic can be affected.

Poster Print Service

In collaboration with Drukwerkdeal, EMS2026 offers a poster printing service for onsite poster presenters organized by our local hosts. Presenters can order their poster on the website of the copy centre to be printed and delivered to KNMI. The local organizing committee will transport all posters to the conference venue (Jaarbeurs). The deadline for sending your poster to the copy centre is Friday, 21 August 2026. Find further information to order your poster in our step-by-step instruction.

Session programme

The detailed session programme is online. Once you’ve logged in with your Copernicus ID, you can put together your own personalised programme, which will then be displayed under "My Programme".

For any travel plans, please be aware that the session programme starts on Monday morning at 9:00 CEST and will continue through Friday afternoon. The opening Icebreaker reception is held on Sunday, 6 September 2026, at 18:00 CEST. Please check the overview of the scheduled sessions and the poster overview.

Registration is open

Registration for the conference is open. You can register for an onsite or online participation. Besides the scientific sessions, the local hosts are organizing several excursions, including workshops and a pub quiz as a social event. For the ECS community, a range of activities will take place during the conference, but please be advised that registration is required. Check out the programme!

Please note: Registration for excursions, workshops and the pub quiz were open during the early registration period. A few remaining spots are still available and can be booked together with your conference registration.

Keynote lectures

Keynote lectures will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening.

Tuesday – OSA Keynote by Paolo Ruti on "40 Years of Operational Excellence: EUMETSAT’s Latest Missions (MTG, EPS-SG) and beyond".

Wednesday – ES Keynote by Julie Berckmans on "Upcoming policy initiatives to prepare Europe to become climate resilient".

Thursday – UP Keynote by Friederike Otto on "Uncertain Numbers, Clear Causes: Lessons on uncertainty from 10 years of attributing extreme weather events to climate change".


Plan your trip to Utrecht

We recommend organizing your trip to Utrecht well in advance. The hosts have put together a list of accommodations in Utrecht and the surrounding area. You can find all the information you need about travelling to Utrecht here.

We encourage all participants of the conference to investigate and consider travel to Utrecht by train and to seek eco-friendly accommodation options, in order to minimize the carbon/GHG footprint caused by their travel.

The Annual Meetings of the EMS aim to foster the exchange and cross-fertilization of ideas in the meteorological, climatological, and related communities. Facilitating interactions, integration, engagement of science, applications, and actors is our core objective. The session programme highlights these goals and offers many opportunities for enhancing collaboration across the entire weather and climate enterprise (public, private, academic, users, and NGOs) to benefit societies in Europe and worldwide.
